Preparatory work for demolishing the three tower blocks is due to begin in the next few weeks. Contractors with the official identification and recognisable reflective jackets will be working in the flats in advance of the heavy machinery coming onto the estate. They will be carrying out the ‘soft strip’ removing wood trims doors windows etc, then the specialist Asbestos removal teams will follow on to safely remove any asbestos that is in the buildings.
By that time the adjoining properties will have received notification of the demolition works and security fencing will have been erected around the flats and mesh covered Safety Scaffolding will have been erected around the homes nearby. Public notices will have been posted locally and to surrounding homes regarding the movement of the heavy machinery that will be brought in for the specialised demolition of the flats. Some roads will have to be closed while this is in progress but plenty of notice will be given in advance. If you live in the area and are asked to park else where for a day – please oblige the contractors by parking cars and other vehicles a safe distance away from the demolition activity.
Further information will be published as and when it becomes available.
